Andrew Bennett
I’ve worked in the public sector for more than 25 years with the last 12 in senior leadership roles in public sector procurement. For the past 2 years I have held the role of Chief Procurement Officer for the Queensland Government Department of Education with responsibility for the governance and oversight of approximately AUD$2.1 billion annually of procurement and purchasing expenditure, policy and delivery. Prior to that I held the post of Director, ICT Category Management within QDoE – for 8 years with responsibility for over 450 contracts / arrangements and an annual spend under management of approximately $240 million.
Prior to joining the Queensland public service I held a variety of corporate roles within the higher-education sector including that of Director, Corporate Operations at the University of Queensland with responsibility for commercial oversight of sourcing and procurement and service agreements for a range of partners. I have an MBA from the University of Queensland and am an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (Australia).
The opportunity for procurement to drive real benefits in attaining public sector objectives is enormous and it’s the excitement in being part of a group that is able to make such a strong positive difference to the delivery of educational outcomes for families and kids in Queensland schools that gets me fired-up every day when I come to work.
