Young Talent

Alice Bray, Waka Kotahi - The New Zealand Transport Agency
Alice Bray entered procurement in 2017 under the Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment procurement graduate programme. During this programme, she completed three secondments to various government agencies, gaining a breadth of experience across corporate, IT and social service procurement.
Since starting at NZTA in 2019, Alice has spearheaded agency-wide procurement analytics, working with third parties to produce reports across more than 2,600 contracts, correlate NZ$2.73bn of third party spend against contract data, inform strategic category plans and support a digitised contracts register. Alice’s ‘can-do attitude, rational insights and energetic approach’ resulted in her being seconded to a major (NZ$7bn) infrastructure programme, leading the social and sustainability outcomes workstream.
Alice consistently works above and beyond expectations, and as such is often described as ‘passionate, determined and resilient’. She is now a mentor for other young professionals, after recently championing procurement at the Victoria University of Wellington Careers Expo.
Having completed Level 4 CIPS in 2018 and working to gain MCIPS in November 2020, Alice is also active at leadership events: she was a key-note speaker on ‘conscious consumption’ at the 2019 NZ CIPS Conference.
Outside of work, Alice founded and manages ‘Consciousness’, a social media platform dedicated to inspiring people to choose ethical, sustainable suppliers and social impact initiatives.
