Jacinta Taliauli, Senior Procurement Advisor, Ministry for Pacific Peoples

Jacinta Taliauli currently works as a senior procurement advisor for the Ministry of Pacific Peoples, where she uses her well-honed skills to deliver high quality and effective procurement. She is often commended for her ability to look beyond the obvious and to consider the broader implications of a variety of situations.

In 2020, Jacinta secured a role as procurement specialist in the Auckland team of the Royal Commission of Inquiry, outperforming many other applicants. Prior to this, she participated in the Procurement Graduate Programme run by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment. A true natural to the profession, Jacinta seamlessly integrated, engaged with and left a lasting mark on her peers.

Jacinta is praised by her colleagues for her ability to engage with stakeholders to better understand their needs, showing empathy when appropriate whilst always keeping the needs of the project as a central focus. She has dealt with a tranche of difficult internal customers and negotiated the minefield of the government procurement rules and in all these areas she has excelled. Not just smart and technically proficient but approachable, empathetic and lateral-minded, Jacinta is a positive example of how procurement can support and add value to the core of any business.
